Our Capabilities

Hinge Digital delivers award-winning animation and visual effects production, bringing to bear our extensive film and commercial experience to deadline-driven and budget-conscious projects. We've produced broadcast, interactive and print work for clients including Carfax, Nike, Merck, Adidas, Minute Maid, Microsoft, The UPS Store, Fidelity and Target, working with agencies like Doner, Razorfish, AKQA, CAHG, BooneOakley, and Zimmerman Advertising.

The company's principals combine over six decades of feature film and commercial experience from studios including Walt Disney Feature Animation, Sony Pictures Imageworks, LAIKA Entertainment, and Double Negative Visual Effects. We offer a talented team of passionate creatives and solution-oriented technical artists, industry standard tools (including Maya, Nuke, ZBrush, MARI and RealFlow), and a robust infrastructure of 64-bit workstations and a 160 core render farm, all conveniently located in our studio in downtown Portland, Oregon.

Our Services

Our Animation team brings storyboards to life through tailored animated performances. Our Look Development team establishes the surface textures and materials, achieving a variety of looks, from stylized to photo-real. In all-digital productions, our Lighting, Compositing and Rendering teams set the visual tone, bringing depth and emotion to the final image.

Our On-set VFX team collaborates with live-action directors, DPs and crew to execute successful green screen and camera tracking shots for integration with CG. The Effects team creates realistic digital effects to integrate into live-action, including dust, smoke, fire, explosions, debris, and water as well as character effects, including cloth, hair and fur. The Lighting, Compositing and Rendering teams combine CG and VFX elements to match real-world scenarios and seamlessly integrate them into live-action plates.

Our team has created photo-real product imagery for clients including Nike, Microsoft, CAT, Panasonic, Whirlpool, Minute Maid and Adidas for broadcast, print and digital campaigns.

Our Concept Design team develops the style, form and details of characters, products and environments, from sketches and paintings to refined style frames, still comps and sculptures.

Our Story Development team translates story concepts and scripts into storyboards, color scripts and story reels (animatics or 3D previsualization) to visually and dynamically communicate your project's narrative.

Our Modeling and Digital Sculpting teams work with our illustrators to adapt 2D designs, and product schematics into fully dimensional 3D assets. Our Rigging teams develop the range of animation capabilities for the character or product. The Look Development team establishes the surface textures and materials to establish the look and feel of the characters, products and environments.

Our Creative and Production Development teams collaborate with our agency and brand clients from early concept though delivery. We bring to bear our years of industry expertise to your project, helping you achieve your creative goals and stay on budget.

Our render farm handles processing of SD and HD resolution images, as well as stereoscopic 3D output. It is also available to rent for projects requiring additional rendering firepower.
